The fact that Plex closed its plugin service does not necessarily mean the end of Plex IPTV watching. With a virtual tuner like xTeVe, you can disguise IPTV playlists as the regular TV channels that can be played by Plex. Thus you don’t need an IPTV plugin for Plex any longer. About Plex and IPTV
Plex is a popular home media server-client software to stream one’s personal media collections like videos, music, and photos locally and remotely. It also supports live TV channels watching and recording. As long as there is an internet connection, users can access their media libraries anytime and anywhere.
IPTV stands for Internet Protocol Television, which serves to deliver television content over IP networks in contrast to the traditional terrestrial, satellite, and cable television formats. It also provides a lot more live TV channels (up to thousands) than the traditional methods, and at a much lower price. To watch IPTV, an IPTV player is needed to process the IPTV playlists. And users can hence access unlimited live sports events, PPV, world news, and international channels readily through the player. Currently, the most popular IPTV players are Kodi (free), Plex, and VLC (free).
Enabling IPTV for Plex used to be easy with the Plex plug-ins service in the past. But ever since the removal of that service, things became tricky. During the plugin-void time, several remedies have emerged to this, yet most workarounds are down by now. As of writing this article, there is one last workable way to fix Plex IPTV watching. Follow the instructions below to know more.
Ik heb zelf Plex en xTeVe op een Synology NAS draaien (DS716+II, fysiek geheugen 8192 MB), Plex (Pass) geïnstalleerd dmv het Synology Media Center en xTeVe in Docker (alturismo/xteve).
For now, the most reliable way to enable Plex IPTV service is through xTeVe, a free and open-source M3U proxy. It can emulate a tuner to wrap the IPTV M3U playlist as regular TV channels that can be streamed on Plex. The following information is how to make Plex M3U IPTV work through xTeVe.
Als xTeVe draait (bij mij op poort 34400 wordt de onderstaande interface getoond en doorloop daarna de getoonde stappen, vergeet vooral de “filter” stap niet want Plex kan niet meer dan 480 kanalen tonen en het filteren zorgt ervoor dat je die limiet niet overschrijdt. Doe je dat wel dan werkt xTeVe niet op Plex.

Vangelis (Evanghelos Odysseas Papathanasiou) is geboren bij Volos in Griekenland. Als vierjarig kind gaf hij zijn eerste concert voor ongeveer 2000 luisteraars. Hij is grotendeels een autodidact: hij heeft bijvoorbeeld nooit muziekles gehad en was nauwelijks in staat bladmuziek te lezen of te schrijven.
Midden jaren 60 formeerde hij de groep Forminx, die in Griekenland heel populair werd. Vangelis richtte de progressieve rockgroep Papathanassiou Set op, later Aphrodite’s Child genaamd, met onder meer Demis Roussos. In Europa scoorde de groep vele hits, onder andere Rain and Tears. In 1972 ging Aphrodite’s Child uit elkaar, nog voor de verschijning van hun laatste lp, 666.
Tijdens de Aphrodite’s Childperiode begon Vangelis in 1970 aan een solocarrière. In dat jaar maakte hij de filmmuziek voor Franse films. Zijn eerste echte soloalbum, Earth, kwam in 1973 uit. In 1974 werd Vangelis gevraagd om Rick Wakeman te vervangen bij de groep Yes. Na enkele weken oefenen, bleken de muzikale ideeën te ver uit elkaar te liggen om tot samenwerking te komen en werd Wakeman vervangen door de Zwitserse toetsenist Patrick Moraz. Wel heeft Vangelis later regelmatig samengewerkt met de zanger van Yes, Jon Anderson (samen maakten ze diverse albums onder de naam Jon & Vangelis). In 1974 vertrok Vangelis naar Londen. Hij tekende een contract bij RCA Records en begon zijn eigen studio, Nemo Studio genaamd. Albums uit deze periode waren Heaven and Hell, Beaubourg, Spiral en Albedo 0.39.
Eind jaren 70 stapte Vangelis over van het RCA-label naar Polydor (thans Universal Music). Onder dit label ontstonden de eerste albums met Jon Anderson en zijn populairste album Chariots of Fire.
In 1982 kreeg hij de Oscar voor de beste filmmuziek voor zijn werk voor Chariots of Fire. Het themanummer van deze film kwam, na een jaar in de Amerikaanse Billboardhitlijst te hebben gestaan, op nummer 1.
In 1983 werd hij genomineerd voor een Golden Globe in de categorie Best Original Score – Motion Picture voor de muziek van de film Blade Runner.
In 1995 scoorde Vangelis in Europa een grote hit met Conquest of Paradise. Het lied, dat al uit 1992 stamde, beleefde een plotselinge hype en verkocht alleen in Nederland al 100.000 exemplaren. Het is een van de grootste hits aller tijden.
Vangelis legde zich in deze periode voornamelijk toe op het componeren van filmmuziek. Zijn muziek voor Blade Runner van Ridley Scott, Missing, Bitter Moon van Roman Polanski en films voor de Franse documentairemaker Frédéric Rossif zijn hiervan voorbeelden. Soloprojecten in deze periode waren de albums Invisible Connections, Mask, The City en Direct. In 2004 schreef hij de muziek voor Alexander van Oliver Stone, deze muziek is in dat jaar ook op cd verschenen. Zijn laatste projecten waren de compositie en uitvoering van de muziek in de film El Greco (overigens niet te verwarren met zijn gelijknamige studioalbum uit 1998) en medewerking aan de soundtrack voor de Poolse documentaire over Paus Johannes-Paulus II, Świadectwo.
Overlijden
Op 17 mei 2022 overleed Vangelis op 79-jarige leeftijd in een Frans ziekenhuis in Parijs, waar hij op dat moment werd behandeld voor COVID-19.

A renewed vision for Mariupol came into being through the ingenuity and artistry of engaged locals with a vested interest in writing a progressive chapter for our city. In just a few years, Mariupol had increasingly become a place of innovation, a place textured through its embrace of creativity and through its fostering of free expression.
On February 24th, 2022, when Russia invaded Ukraine, Mariupol quickly turned into a city of horrors – a humanitarian disaster in constant, indiscriminate crisis. Thousands of citizens died in just one month.
Following the tragic unfolding of the Russian invasion, we closed our branding project and have since focused on establishing an online archive of the stories of Mariupol residents. We aim for our work to be a vehicle for the survival of our friends and neighbors — a lifeline in the face of gross injustice and manifest war crimes.

Op 6 januari 2021 protesteerden duizenden Amerikaanse burgers uit het hele land in Washington tegen de uitslag van de presidentsverkiezingen en bestormden het Amerikaanse Capitool. Velen hoopten zo de beëdiging van president Joe Biden te verhinderen. Het resultaat was vijf doden en ruim 140 gewonden. Met nooit eerder vertoonde beelden, en demonstranten, politieagenten, leden van het Amerikaanse Congres en de Senaat die hun ervaringen delen.

Wat is Spotweb:
Met Spotweb kan je een website zoals nzbserver op je eigen computer, server of Raspberry Pi installeren.
Spotweb wordt vaak online Spotnet genoemd omdat er veel overeenkomsten zijn. Je hebt een goede newsserver provider zoals XSNews nodig om de spots te kunnen ophalen. En, als je zelf spots wil toevoegen heb je een newsserver nodig waarmee je ook kan posten.
Een voorbeeld van Spotweb ishttps://www.nzbserver.com maar je kunt Spotweb ook op een Raspberry Pi draaien. Hieronder een werkende installatie op Raspbian Desktop:
Om de installatie en beheer makkelijker te maken heb ik op Raspbian SSH en VNC aangezet en heb ik een vast IP-adres ingesteld. Dit kun je het beste in de VNC desktop interface doen of op de volgende wijze via SSH:
sudo vim /etc/dhcpcd.conf
interface wlan0 (als voorbeeld, verschilt per interne netwerk) static ip_address=192.168.178.8/24 static routers=192.168.178.1 static domain_name_servers=192.168.178.1
Voer vervolgens de onderstaande commando’s in (VNC/SSH) terminal uit:
– Installeer spotweb dependencies
sudo apt-get install apache2 php7.4 php7.4-curl php7.4-gd php7.4-gmp php7.4-xml php7.4-mbstring
php7.4-zip
– Creëer de MySQL-server
sudo apt install mariadb-server
Hierna heb ik ook nog PHPMyAdmin geïnstalleerd om makkelijker beheer van de MySQL-server te kunnen uitvoeren:
– sudo apt install phpmyadmin
– Installeer Spotweb
wget https://github.com/spotweb/spotweb/tarball/master
tar -xvzf master
sudo mv spotweb-spotweb-* /var/www/html/spotweb
rm master
– Gebruiker root toevoegen aan MySQL-server
sudo mysqladmin -u root password nieuwwachtwoord
Hierna is als het goed is Spotweb geïnstalleerd op het (vaste) IP-adres http://[IP-adres]/spotweb/install.php en verschijnt het Spotweb configuratie scherm. Als hierin meldingen zijn dat bepaalde mappen niet toegankelijk zijn kan dit opgelost worden met het (terminal) commando “chmod -R 777 spotweb”.
Klik onderaan het configuratie scherm om verder te gaan.
In het volgende scherm worden de database gegevens ingevoerd met port 3306:
In het scherm hierna worden de gegevens van de usenet provider ingevoerd:
Op deze pagina heb ik een uoitleg geschreven van een bij mij werkende Synology installatie van Spotweb, deze verloopt verder identiek.
– Updaten Spots
Op de Spotweb pagina bevindt zich onderaan de linker kolom onder “Maintenance” een knop “retrieve”. Als hierop geklikt wordst worden alle spots binnengehaald. Dit is te controleren door af en toe de pagina te verversen en duurt even.
Een andere optie is de volgende: Voer in de terminal dit commando uit: cd /var/www/html/spotweb –> php retrieve.php
Maar als alles goed is gegaan krijg je de tekst “retriever.php is already running, pass ‘–force’ to ignore this warning” te zien en draait retrieve al op de achtergrond.
De interface ziet er vervolgens uit zoals hieronder is weergegeven:
Als er bij de instellingen van Spotweb voor wordt gekozen een koppeling te leggen met SABnzbd, wat erg makkelijk is om de download zonder verdere handelingen te starten, kan het zijn dat er schermpjes getoond worden over vage fouten als “push http return code 200 expects one parameter”. Hiervoor heb ik 2 werkende oplossingen gevonden:
– Zet de taal waarin Spotweb staat bij de instellingen op Engels
– Voer het volgende commando uit in de terminal:
sudo chmod -R 777 /var/www/html/spotweb
Automatisering retrieve.php (ophalen spots) mbv crontab
Op de website https://crontab-generator.org kan eenvoudig een cronjob worden gegenereerd om het ophalen van de nieuwe spots te automatiseren.
Aanmaken van een cronjob kan door uitvoeren van het terminal commando:
sudo crontab -u pi -e
De door mij gegenereerde cronjob haalt ieder half uur de nieuwste spots op door onderaan de tekst van de cronjob deze regel toe te voegen:
*/30 * * * * /usr/bin php /var/www/html/spotweb/retrieve.php –force >/dev/null 2>&1
Met het commando crontab -l kan gekeken worden welke cronjob actief is
één en ander ziet er uit zoals hieronder is getoond:
En iets anders, een tip om te voorkomen dat je VNC Raspbian desktop op screensaver gaat, installeer xscreensaver: sudo apt install xscreensaver
Ga hierna naar voorkeuren –> Schermbeveiliging –> Modus –> Schermbeveiliging uitschakelen.
